Convergent Communications: Simplifying IoT to Make Business Smarter

Kallol Kanungo,CEO, Convergent CommunicationsKallol Kanungo, CEO
Until 2007, Manipal University, one of the leading universities in India, was providing internet to students via a wired network in a few hostel blocks. Soon, however, advances in technology led to the internet becoming a necessity; this in-turn brought to light the complexity in connecting through wired services. The university then realized this need and decided to go for a single sign-in wireless campus network web. They approached Convergent Communications to help them with their Wi-Fi requirements. Deploying 2500 Cisco access points in the hostels, Convergent Communications built an indoor Wi-Fi solution for Manipal University. The secure Wi-Fi network helped the user access multiple devices with a single sign-in across the campus. Convergent Communications also delivered flexibility in the service for technology savvy users who wanted high-speed connectivity. Adding to this, Sathish Kamath, Asst. Director, IT, Manipal University, exclaims, “Strong Wi- Fi infrastructure powered by Convergent Communications improved the network performance and provided better user-experience.”

Headquartered in Bangalore, India, Convergent Communications delivers IoT managed services in different verticals of the industry including education, corporate, smart cities, hospitality, service providers, and retail. The firm manages the entire pathway to generate seamless information out of IoT networks using its analytics engine that has been created on top of the Big Data ‘Hadoop’ warehouse.

With 20 years of experience in the IoT industry, Convergent Communications brings solutions that drive IoT devices, powered by seamless connectivity, to best predict customer requirements

Convergent’s Managed Application services include the operation of registry software to a specified service level, providing upgrades, configuration and patching, performance management and tuning, as well as proactive 24/7 monitoring to speed issue identification and resolution.

Apart from this, the firm offers infrastructure provision and support including storage, servers, operating systems and database software, application servers, and networking components. Convergent Communications, alongside providing managed services, also delivers a Managed Business Analytics service that uses information, logs, and alerts generated from various devices to provide information for business outcomes—helping customers manage their business processes using real-time predictive analytics. “Wi-Fi monetization with Managed Business Analytics is one of the key attributes. Moreover, our Data Analytics Platform allows customers to improve end-user experience through insights gained from intelligent business analytics,” says Kallol Kanungo, CEO of Convergent Communications.

The firm believes that with digitization happening as a global phenomenon, mobility–anytime, anywhere access to information–shall remain crucial. “The global phenomenon of digitization has led to a surplus in the availability of data, and in this abundant pool of data, what we do is capturing the intelligence to deliver information that makes sense,” Kanungo adds. The firm ensures that these services are managed well, so that IoT is able to perform the function of accessing the internet or network and deliver the information for intelligent use. With 20 years of experience in the IoT industry, the team at Convergent Communications brings solutions that drive IoT devices, powered by seamless connectivity, to best predict customer requirements.
