Penang’s manufacturing sector faces a more immediate connection between energy choices and supply-chain competitiveness. R.A.C.E to Zero 2026 brings that issue to the Eastin Hotel Penang on August 13, placing renewable-energy deployment alongside the requirements confronting industrial companies. The Penang edition forms part of a regional series focused locally on sustainable manufacturing, electrification pathways and commercial renewable-energy sourcing.
The one-day conference and exhibition is organized by the Malaysian Photovoltaic and Sustainable Energy Industry Association with The C0_Lab. Penang Chief Minister Chow Kon Yeow will officiate the event and is scheduled to address the state’s clean-energy policy direction. The program brings manufacturers into discussions with policymakers, energy developers and other participants involved in the transition.
Technology implementation presents a particular challenge for industrial sites where available space and energy demand can influence project design. The exhibition will cover rooftop and floating solar alongside battery energy storage systems. Hybrid inverter technology and other approaches to industrial decarbonization are also included. The program positions these technologies within Penang’s manufacturing context rather than treating renewable energy as a standalone infrastructure issue.
Workforce safety will receive attention as solar installations expand. MPSEA and 3M are scheduled to sign a memorandum of understanding to develop Work-at-Height guidelines and safety training modules for the solar industry. MPSEA President Ir. Justin Sim and 3M Asia Division Leader YoungBae Park are named as signatories. The initiative links growth in rooftop deployment with the installation standards required to support it.
Supply-chain considerations add another layer to the discussion. Sessions will examine decarbonization and CBAM readiness, while workshops are planned around the Penang Green Industry Programme and green-building pathways. The event website identifies Penang’s regional program around sustainable manufacturing and electrification, reflecting the close relationship between energy infrastructure and industrial planning.
APAC CIO Outlook is serving as a media partner because the event connects sustainability decisions with enterprise technology leadership across Asia-Pacific. The publication covers emerging technologies and enterprise systems while addressing sustainability as part of the CIO agenda. R.A.C.E to Zero gives its readers a regional view of how renewable energy and storage choices intersect with technology-intensive manufacturing. Editorial coverage can extend the discussion by examining the enterprise implications of developments presented in Penang.
Penang offers a useful test of how clean-energy objectives translate into technology choices inside a major manufacturing center. The August program should provide a closer view of the decisions required when energy transition moves from policy direction to implementation.
